Established in 1972, Central Group began by rewinding electromechanical equipment. Today, we operate from a fully equipped workshop and machine shop at our Kitling Road facility, delivering a wide range of electromechanical repair services.

WORKSHOP
ELECTRICAL
We specialise in the repair and refurbishment of electro-mechanical rotating machinery, including coil rewinds and insulation restoration for stator, rotor and armature rewinds.
To ensure electrical integrity, we perform Baker testing (surge comparison) to detect turn-to-turn insulation faults, and insulation resistance tests using a Megger to verify winding-to-ground insulation. These diagnostics support reliable performance and extend equipment lifespan.
MECHANICAL – MACHINE SHOP
Our workshop is fully equipped for high-precision machining, heavy-duty pressing, and advanced fabrication. With automatic lathes, milling, drilling, and slotting machines, we handle complex and large-scale components.
We offer TIG and spiral welding, metal spraying, and oxy-acetylene cutting for versatile fabrication needs. Our presses and rolling plant support robust forming operations, while grinding and cutting machines ensure clean finishes. Backed by calibrated measuring tools and a comprehensive steel stock, we deliver fast, reliable, and high-quality engineering solutions.
MECHANICAL REPAIRS & MODIFICATIONS
We offer comprehensive mechanical diagnostics including vibration analysis to detect imbalance and wear, bearing condition monitoring using acoustic and thermal tools, shaft alignment checks with precision instruments, and rotor balancing to reduce vibration.
Our engineering services cover repair and modification of all equipment types, bespoke precision machining, and reverse engineering tailored to any application.

The Penrhyn Court workshop is equipped with the latest electronic testing instruments, ensuring precision and reliability in every repair and to support continual operations, we maintain a fleet of over 200 hire drives, allowing your site to remain fully functional while your equipment is being serviced.
LIQUID STARTERS
Central Group, is AOIP’s only UK partner, meaning we have specialist expertise to repair liquid starters and provide OEM spares and parts.
We Specialise in the repair of EPM and RLV, AOIP liquid Electrolyte starters. EPM starters are ideal for high power applications, ensuring a smooth linear start for applications ranging from 500-20,000 kW. RLV starters are applied for low and medium power slipring motors up to 750 kW.

CONDITION BASED MONITORING
At Central Group, we use IoT technology and Condition-Based Monitoring (CBM) to boost the reliability of industrial equipment. By understanding your business, asset failures, and maintenance schedule, we create tailored solutions that reduce downtime and predict failures months in advance.
We use advanced IoT sensors and an on-premise edge device to detect issues in real time. Machine learning models flag problems across pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, alternators, and drives, preventing failures before they disrupt normal operations.
THE SERVER
The server is a compact, on-premise computer for data storage and system management. It offers secure SCADA/OPC integration, web-based sensor management, and easy data export to Google Sheets or Excel—ensuring seamless monitoring without cloud dependence.
THE SENSORS
The Vibration Monitoring Sensor capture three-axis vibration and temperature data from rotating equipment. Compact, wireless, or 24V powered, it integrates easily, offers remote configuration, and delivers valuable insights for asset health.
Additionally, our Current Clamps monitor current consumption (amperage), integrating seamlessly into our system to provide extra performance insights for your most critical assets, for applications such as ATEX motors.

CUSTOM STORAGE SOLUTIONS AT PENRHYN COURT
At Central we can store customers assets in our large storage facility only two minutes away from our main workshop. The facility is accessible 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
We work closely with our customers to provide the optimal solution to meet their requirements, offering several different maintenance plans.
Plans range from basic storage where we simply keep the asset on the shelf until called for, through to full testing prior to despatch, giving peace of mind that the asset will be delivered in perfect condition and ready to install.
